Description:Hospitals across the U.S. are currently experiencing high volumes of patients with acute behavioral needs. Often, nurses in the inpatient setting are the first staff member to respond to the agitated patient. Current nursing education does not often include training on de-escalation and managing the escalated patient. This offering will help provide insight and training to nurses who may encounter the acutely escalated patient, and strategies to help reduce escalation, thereby decreasing the likelihood of patient and staff injury. Takeaways include de-escalation strategies.
Outcome:75% of The participants will be able to implement new de-escalation skills for the escalated patient to reduce need for physical restraint and prevent staff injury based upon the knowledge gained
